Dear friend,
It seems a whole crop of little homes with candy-colored details have been finding their way into my house portrait stack lately. I love the classically colored homes...the bricks and taupes are so handsome. But I must admit, my heart skips a beat or two when I get to paint these splashy pops of color! Here are some of my favorites from the past few weeks:
A purple house, y'all! The owner of this home let me know that both of her cats are bigger than her pooch. Precious!
I love the green door. So unexpected and oh so charming.
In other news, if I could eat this for every single meal, I would. Maybe I can?
I am waiting breathlessly for this book to arrive at my doorstep.
And I figured out the moon garden. DREAMY!
Hope your Wednesday is dreamy too :)
Love,
Rebekka

Lovely! Have you done any red doors? Or Blue houses? I dream about living in both one day.
Maria...I've done lots of red doors and one or two blue houses! You can see them both on my website www.rebekkaseale.com, and click on "house portraits" :)
No way!!!!!! That house with the green door is my favorite! I walk by it every day on my walk and wish it was mine....and then saw Waverly St and knew it was not just similar, but THE house I love. In Sunnyvale?!? How fun. I'm yipping and woke my husband up to show him. How fun!!!!!!
Christine, that is so crazy!!! How fun!
There are some houses here I think you would fall madly in love with! On the drive to church we pass this one road with so many different colored Victorian houses (purple, green, pink, yellow) and closer to the city you'll find old brick buildings with lime green doors and bright purple archways. I should really take pictures of these, come to think of it.
What fun! I love all these house portraits that you are getting to do! One day when I have a house of my own I am definitely having you paint it for me!
I have never heard of a moon garden, but I want want want one.
Actually just brought myself a lovely vintage lantern (I will add a photo to my blog later) in which I am going to burn a big old church candle so I can enjoy my garden at nights, now I know I have to plant it up to reflect the light from the moon and it will be oh so beautiful.....well thats the dream picture I can see in my head. :-)Thank you for the wonderful idea. I cant wait to see yours.
Your house illustrations are beautiful as usual. I had dreams once of enjoying evenings in my back garden, but the mosquitoes had the same idea. Maybe the bugs in Nashville are more obliging. :)
i always love a colorful door.
and that homemade ricotta looks dreamy, i agree!
Oh, they are all so lovely, I could say something special about each one but this comment would get so long....so I'll just say. A purple house on Rosa Street? Can't get much better than that.
I hope you dont mind but I put a link to Dear Friend on my little blog as I mentioned the Moon Garden! Oh the Moon Garden - I am still daydreaming of it....
so so lovely! all of them! i could imagine my life in any one of these beauties. i love the unexpected pops of color, especially the house with a green door.

Hello there!
I just found your blog through Tiger in a Jar's and your work is so fantastic! :) Looove the little house paintings! Especially because I have it pinned on my "simple home" board on pinterest and didn't know the source it was from...and it's YOU! Neato! :)
p.s. I too am a huge fan of yellow doors! My husband and I just bought our very first home that we move into soon, and it comes with a nice round door that's just begging to be painted yellow! :)
Fell for that book also. It was just so beautifully shot that I had to have it.
so lovely, thank you for sharing!
Your pictures are wonderful!

oh my goodness Rebekka, what an amazing talent you are, my fingers are itching to embroider one of your houses, amazing. Soft, gentle and yet so warm and welcoming, i just want to step inside, find a comfortable chair to sit on (preferably in the kitchen) and stay there all day. thank you
