Dear friend,

We're painting the trim on our house this week...it's going from crimson to caramel, which I love so far with the white and butter yellow. Monochromatic colors schemes are so pretty, don't you think? For the past couple of days, my mom and I have been puttering around the house just doing things like this. Making meatballs, letting zucchini bubble away in slowly browning butter, arranging rocks just-so around flowerbeds. The days feel very long, when just a week ago they felt tiny. Tomorrow I'm getting out my sewing machine to make strands of paper garland, and we're having a picnic table delivered for the backyard. I think I'll paint it the most beautiful color I can find and then maybe build a canopy over it with a string or two of twinkle lights woven through and we'll have supper out there. I've been dying to make this peach ricotta tart. Maybe with a rosemary olive-oil tart dough?

Oh, the possibilities of this whole entire month :)

Love,

Rebekka

it looks absolutely lovely and the long summer days sound dreamy. making meatballs and peach ricotta tarts! you've inspired me.

when you get your picnic table and canopy in order, be sure and make time to bring your sewing machine out there. there is nothing i like more than sewing out in our backyard under the grapefruit and avocado trees in the breezy evenings.

i hope you and your mom continue to enjoy your days together.

Your blog is a recent find for me and I think you have such an enchanting space -- I love sites that make me feel instantly at ease and calm.

What a wonderful idea regarding your picnic table! Please do it! And please share the details! :)

I'm so jealous of all that lovely trim! Sounds like a pretty amazing month. :) Hopefully you'll be able to watch the meteor shower on Saturday night from your new table!

I love all the beautiful details of your new home. It really reminds me of a cottage that we lived in on the north coast.

Just adore the caramel, Rebekka! It's a great choice and will look even more spectacular when the leaves turn, but I don't want to rush autumn...nope, no way!

Normally I love pops of color, but the red in this case, not so much. Your caramel color sounds heavenly.

The sounds so lovely. Your idea for the picnic table with lights is the best. There is nothing like dining alfresco, amongst lights. Enjoy!
