Like Christmas morning

Dear friend,

I got this package on our doorstep Saturday. So, so excited. This girl and I have started a box exchange, in which we send a wooden box back and forth to each other filled with little gifts, bits of inspiration, cobbled-together scrapbook pages, and handwritten letters in a journal documenting it all.  It has already become one of the most precious traditions I know, sacred and sweet and magical. Real, tangible pieces of wonderfulness. Dear, sweet, wonderful, precious friend. So much richness in this life. (Not to mention...a Le Creuset pie bird!)

Love,

Rebekka

What a wonderful tradition. P.S. I loved that book, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

Thank you, thank you! Been looking for a great replacement for my "Tuesdays Unwrapped" 5x7 handmade cards of all things that say you are loved, that I mailed to my daughter during her freshman year at college.

I will start this box exchange on her 21st birthday next month!

Where did you get this simple beautiful box?

What a beautiful tradition and lovely package. By the way, the book she included is one of my most favorite books ever. It's wonderful to read, but it's even better to listen to. I downloaded it from Audible.com and have listened to it many, many times. It still makes me laugh and cry and I dream of being as wonderful and witty and Juliet. So read it and then download it to listen to while you paint ... I think you'll fall in love with it.

I am a new reader and a huge fan of snail mail. This idea is glorious and I can just imagine how it must feel to open it up each time! Reminds me of childhood treasures.

This was such fun thing to do. I was as giddy about it as setting out gifts under the tree on Christmas Eve. High pitch giggles and all!
Indeed! This book is lovely.

Anthology gifts are my very favorite to give. I love the organic way in which they come together, sometimes uniting in a theme, sometimes just random thoughts. The tradition of a box is too lovely.

What a lovely, fun, sentimental *insert all wonderful adjectives here* tradition to create! Oh this makes me want to adopt a similar ritual. Anything by mail is fear to my heart...I was born in the wrong era.

I just got a package from a friend as well. A mug and herbal tea she made herself, and a peacock feather tucked into the letter-sheet. I know what you mean about it being sacred. It has colored my last few days the same stone-teal as the peacock feather.

Best, and looking forward to autumn photos (I miss foliage).
