My name is Rebekka Mann Seale. I was born in Kentucky. At the age of two, I traded in mint juleps and horseraces for the crab traps and Spanish moss of the Alabama Gulf coast. Now I live in Nashville, a city that, for much of my life, I thought of as the “North”, populated by “Yankees.”
I spend my days working from home, creating watercolor and gouache paintings and hand-painted illustrations. When I’m not doing that, I’m probably reading, or writing stories, having coffee and buttered bread. Maybe riding my bike or doing yoga, maybe making pasta, probably dressing up in costume. Cooking French food, cooking Southern food. Sewing or wandering around the farmer’s market. Buying vintage needlepoint pocketbooks. Writing letters to my friends.
I am married to a man named Manley, which is funny because my maiden name is Mann, and Manley is a family name, and I even have an uncle Manley Mann on my daddy’s side (his brother was "Hugh Mann"....get it? Oh dear!) My Manley is an architect, working on getting his license. I like him so much, I’d almost say he’s perfect. We live in a little house on the East side of Nashville with our two cats, Mabel and Lina, who are somewhat crazy and make us laugh all the time.
In April 2010 we began the process of adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. We are so excited and even more grateful for the support and encouragement we have received from family, friends, and total strangers. We invite you to follow us on this journey as we bring our girl home.
